Yes, a burn permit is needed any time you are lighting a fire that is not for the purposes of a campfire or cooking.
Yes, permit holder is responsible for any and all damage caused by a fire they started. Any controlled burn is to be monitored and all times and never left unattended.
Burning without a permit may result in a fine issued by the Door County Sherriff’s Department.
Yes, you can burn as long as a burning ban has not been put in place. However, we remind you to use extreme caution any time you are burning.
To become a member of the Egg Harbor Fire Department, complete the application and return it to Fire Chief Steve Schopf. Your application can also be mailed to 5242 County Rd I, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted for hire. You must have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License. Must be 18 years of age. No fire training is required at the time of hire.
You will be expected to successfully complete Entry Level Fire Fighter 1 & 2 within a year of joining the department or pending class availability. The class will be paid by the Egg Harbor Fire Department. You will then be required to complete a one-year probationary period which will require you to meet specific requirement. This probationary period may be extended if requirements are not met in the initial year.
Donations can be mailed to the Egg Harbor Firefighter’s Association Inc. at 5242 County Rd I, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. Checks can be made out to Egg Harbor Firefighter’s Association Inc. A receipt will be mailed to you for tax purposes.
